Happy Autumn!
September 23rdToday is the fall equinox, the beginning of my favorite season. The days are shorter and crisper, and it is the perfect time for sweaters, hot tea and cider, and snuggling up under the blankets with a good book. I am going to make some time today and for the next week to really connect myself to what autumn means here in central Virginia.
I have been looking forward to a trip to Carter’s Mountain Orchard to stock up on incredible local apples, cider, and addictive apple doughnuts. It’s also about time for Monarch butteflies to migrate down to the mountains of Mexico. Hundreds will be flying along the Blue Ridge Mountains, so we’re going to fix a picnic and find a good view point. Even if we don’t see any Monarchs, we can enjoy the scenery as the first leaves begin to turn.
The changing of the season is a perfect opportunity to surround yourself with local sights, smells, and tastes. This week, take a little time to get to know your home better, and enjoy all of the new wonders that come with autumn. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
