Virginia Produce Availability Chart
September 13thA while ago I stumbled across this chart, but I didn’t have too much of a use for it. As the growing season here in Virginia begins to slow down, I dug it up again, hoping it might give me some hope for the next few months. Sure enough, there are plenty of delicious fruits and vegetables that will be in season here in Virginia for some time still.
The chart is available from Virginia Grown, but it was also posted on our state Cooperative Extension website. If you are unfamiliar with the Cooperative Extension service, it is worth looking into. Chances are you have someone in your community or near by who can act as a valuable resource when it comes to any important agricultural or land questions. Also, they typically run a Master Gardener’s Program, which is a great way to meet other local gardeners and learn about local soil and native plants.
I imagine that each state has a chart like this available from the extension service. I’m not sure what programs exist in other countries that would provide this same service, so if you know of any please let me know, and I will add them!
