John tipped me off to a not—quite—local recycling event sponsored by Apple Computers.

Apple is pairing up with the University of Maryland to collect and recycle or dispose of old electronics. There is no limit to the number of items you can drop off, and you can recycle even non—Apple electronics. Hard drives will be shredded and “disposed of in an environment-friendly manner.” They’ll be accepting items 9/29 and 9/30. Check out the website for more detailed info.

I still have a problem with the way Apple manufactures its products, but kudos to them for organizing this huge free recycling event.
